The Baked Apples | Les Pommes au Four

The fall is conceived by a collection of elements; luckily, all of the elements are found in this recipe. Apples, Pecans, Brown Sugar, and Love.

The Ingredients | “Les Ingrédients”

Honey Crispes Apples ( As many as your baking can hold, or 3 or 4 at a time. Apples must be spot-free and can stand alone)

⅓ cup Brown Sugar  

Spoon Full of Butter

½ tsp Cinnamon

Light Dusting Nutmeg

⅓ cup to ½ cup Raw pecan

½ tsp Vanilla Extract

1tsp Lemon Juice/per apple 

1 ½ cup Apple Juice

The Steps| L’étape

Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cleanly cut the top of the apple, revealing the core. Begin to core the apples by simply using the pointy end of an apple peeler or a small spoon. Removing the seeds and core in addition to a kind amount of flesh so there is room for the delicious filling. Be sure not to puncture the bottom of the apple. Once complete, brush lemon juice on the top and inside of the apple. Do not pour lemon juice into the apple; as this is only to preserve a beautiful tone while you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 2: Once the oven is preheated, add to a baking sheet the entire bag of pecans for roasting. Roasted pecans are a great snack. After roasting, only ⅓ cup will be needed. Roast pecans for 10 minutes and then take ⅓ cup and chop them to the desired size.

Step 3: To a mixing dish, add ⅓ tightly packed brown sugar (65g), a dusting of nutmeg, add slightly; as the flavor and fragrance of nutmeg is strong. Add ½ tsp cinnamon, followed by a gentle whisk. Followed by adding the roasted pecans and another gentle whisk.

Step 4: Fill the apples with the sugar and pecan mixture, generously followed by 1 tsp lemon juice to each apple or a dusting of fresh lemon zest and  ½ tsp Vanilla extract to each apple as well. Followed by placing them into your baking dish.

Step 5: Top each apple with a happy heaping of butter, followed by adding 1 ½ apple juice to the bottom of the baking dish so the apples will not burn. Add to the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 Minutes. Remove from heat, collect the best Vanilla Ice Cream, and Enjoy!
